FACTS OF THE CASE
On October 29, 2010, Mohan Krishnan, along with Manoharan borrowed a car without taking the consent of the owner and kidnapped two children, a girl aged 10 years and her brother aged 7 years old from outside a Hindu Temple, at Coimbatore, on their way to school, and took them to a remote area called Gopalasamy Temple Hills. The girl was brutally raped by both the men. The children were then attempted to be murdered by feeding them milk, which was mixed with a poisonous substance, and when they failed, they were then tied up and thrown into the Parambikulam-Azhiyar (Aliyar) Project (PAP) canal. School bags were seen floating At around 9:45 pm, Mohankrishnan came to return the car and confessed to Anbu about the kidnapping. Anbu immediately informed the police. He was caught by the police on the same evening of the day with help of the information provided.
On the next day the body of the girl was recovered from the canal. After few days, the appellant was also arrested and body of the boy was also recovered. Mohankrishnan was later shot dead in an encounter by the police.
