Abstract
India’s rapid economic development often presents challenges in balancing economic progress with environmental protection. This paper explores the evolving landscape of Indian environmental regulations and the influence of technological advancements in shaping these regulations. Employing a doctrinal research methodology, this study examines relevant environmental legislation, policy documents, and judicial pronouncements from various levels of the Indian legal system. Through a critical analysis of these primary sources, the paper aims to:
- Identify and analyze the specific technological advancements impacting Indian environmental regulations, including areas such as monitoring, pollution control, and resource management.
- Evaluate the potential benefits and limitations of these technologies in achieving environmental sustainability. This includes analyzing the potential for improved efficiency, transparency, and enforcement, alongside potential drawbacks like accessibility issues, unintended consequences, and over-reliance on technological solutions.
- Examine how the legal framework addresses the integration of technology into environmental regulations, including considerations for data privacy, equitable implementation, and long-term sustainability.
By critically analyzing the legal framework and its interaction with technological advancements, the paper aims to provide insights into the future trajectory of Indian environmental regulations and contribute to a balanced approach that leverages technology for sustainable development while ensuring robust environmental protection and equitable implementation.
