ABSTRACT:
This study delves into the profound relationship between religious beliefs and environmental stewardship, revealing how diverse faiths such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, and Jainism converge in their reverence for nature as a divine creation deserving protection. It highlights the role of spiritual leaders in fostering ethical commitments to sustainability, encouraging followers to engage in responsible environmental practices. Complementing these spiritual dimensions are robust legal frameworks, including the Environmental Protection Act and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, which establish governmental obligations to safeguard ecological integrity. Landmark judicial rulings further reinforce the right to a clean environment, intertwining individual dignity with collective ecological responsibility. By examining these interconnected themes, the study underscores the need for a holistic approach to environmental ethics that harmonizes spiritual values with legal imperatives, promoting a sustainable future for all living beings.
